"The Noble Lie" - Quareness Series 172nd "Lecture".
Given the state of play in much of the world today it does look uncannily like we may be revisiting what pertained around a century ago with regard to a major turning in our western civilisation...somewhat of a reminder that the more things change, the more they stay the same...plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose (as the 19th century French novelist Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr pointed out).
The period of the late 1800s and early 1900s saw much upheaval and great turbulence on many fronts...political, spiritual and technological. In the midst of an existential crisis (secularisation) we saw the rise of the intellectual and mass media...major disruptive forces to the traditional order of knowledge and influence. Now about a century later we see many of the same conditions only on a much more pervasive level, largely propelled by advances in communication technology on a global scale. Back then the newly found secular power of Darwinian science would go on to colonise the political and social sciences, eventually giving rise to the promotion of eugenics i.e. the selective breeding and culling of humans.
It's clear from humanity's recent history that when left unrestrained by morals and ethics, wanton destruction and suffering can be wrought in the name of scientific progress. And with modern advances in genetic engineering we may be heading backwards again as we face the dilemma of resisting game-changing advances of technology and innovation or surrendering to it and prostrating at the altar of science and progress. Today's technology gurus, vaccinologists, public health officials and even "celebrities" now occupy positions of prestige commanding a reverence formerly reserved for such as pontiffs, philosophers and even poets. The divine mysteries have given way to the "divine" algorithms, as has timeless sublime prose to the transience of the latest epidemiological model...the fruit of a seemingly unforgiving ideology (technocracy) dedicated to the preservation of a secular dogma taking precedence over the lives and souls of humans caught in the crossfire of "progress". It's a mindset that can and does easily seek to justify any collateral damage as part of a necessary deployed means to achieving the goals of transformation and formulation of a new order.
History tends to be written by the victors through imposing a sort of collective "living memory" usually in the form of chronicling a shared experience of sacrifice undertaken for the greater good. Such then forms the central basis for later order and worldviews around which the reorganisation of society and economics occurs. Marshalling this “grand narrative” enables a ruling establishment to lead and steer society in its direction of choice.
People naturally tend to distrust self-appointed elites planning the future of society...hence the need to create the requisite "living memory". Today we have witnessed attempts by the likes of the World Economic Forum (WEF) to replace the usual military war focus with a new war on microbes..."the pandemic has revealed the acute need to focus on the future and long-term health of our societies". Such innocuous sounding rhetoric serves to cloak the more likely real agenda about how the individual can be more effectively managed to serve the collective, that in turn is to be administered by the new technocracy. As was the case 100 years ago and throughout recorded history, the primary goal seems always to meet the ruling oligarchy's financial and consolidation objectives.
Looking back now to the global financial crash of 2008, it's obvious that elites managed to privatise their profits and socialise their losses through huge government bailouts. And it ain't too fanciful to expect ongoing repeats of the same protection of the privileged "as needed" whilst demanding infinite self-sacrifice from everyone else...all for the greater good of course. In this regard managing expectations is a crucial tactical tool..."the Great Narrative initiative, a collaborative effort of the world's leading thinkers to fashion longer-term perspectives and co-create a narrative that can help guide the creation of a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable vision for our collective future" (WEF). Given that every new world order needs a financial reset, could it be that the WEF's Great Reset plan is to collapse the current fiat money system and replace it with a new globalised economic system backed by a new superficial asset class under the guise of the “financialisation of nature”? Should a new fully programmable central bank digital currency be implemented and become the payment mechanism for universal basic income, this would allow the issuer power over what we are allowed to purchase and limit such to whatever extent the controlling elites desire e.g. "carbon-neutral" activities. Here again we can see social engineering writ large with a potential lead on to the ultimate victory of technocracy and those self-appointed stewards of the planet.
The unconstrained vision of today's Davos elites could become the final revolution within a larger civilisational cycle (e.g. Babylonian, Egyptian, Chinese, Indian, Greco-Roman, Mayan-Aztec, Arabian, European-Western) with the covid19 pseudo-pandemic as one of the catalysing events in this process, followed by global cyberwar and finally ending in nuclear conflagration before ushering in a New World Order. Such a protracted multi-phased upheaval would very likely mark the end of the main features of modern western civilisation - nation states, era of enlightenment and rational thought, self-governing democracy and republican forms of government - with our world coming to resemble a centralised "command and control" economy within a highly automated society. And in terms of individual rights...a neo-feudal dark age.
It appears that our modern day Malthusian elites believe that the people must bear the brunt of the epic existential predicament of an overcrowded planet in a state of terminal decline due to man and his industrial exploits, which is said to be driving anthropogenic global warming to the point where Earth will be uninhabitable. In this "manifesto" we must all be forced to accept that there are too many of us in order to save humanity from itself. That old Greek sage Socrates explained (in Plato's Republic) that to maintain order and social continuity, the ruling class must act under the aegis of “the noble lie” based on the belief that from time to time, the ruling class must feed the general populace an ennobling fiction to maintain order and continuity. And the "noble" aspect of such lying facilitates any elite's perspective of benevolence enabling them to view it as benefiting the souls of those who believe it.
Over the last half-century we have had a continuum of (hardly truly noble) "official" lies relating to JFK, Gulf of Tonkin, Iraq, 9/11, Afghanistan, overpopulation, climate chaos, covid19 and more, with each epic yarn spun with the help of a 24/7 mainstream and social media barrage of propaganda and misinformation. By brainwashing the population incessantly, the establishment creates the illusion of a collective "bottom-up grassroots consensus" that people firmly believe is true. And this process of issuing noble lies has now become very efficient in being enforced through digital reach...should you dare question or oppose any of what the globalist elite has cast "for your own good" in order to reorganise ("reimagine") socio-economic systems, you risk being deplatformed, depersoned, cancelled, silenced, excommunicated, banished from view
...like a blasphemer during medieval times.
The late early 20th century Armenian philosopher G.I. Gurdjieff once said...“If you wish to get out of prison, the first thing you must do is realise that you are in prison. If you think you are free, you can’t escape.” Pondering on this we might well ask what is the purpose of humans on Earth? Darwinian genetic science says we are here to promulgate our genes and advance the species which is indeed what makes us human on a fundamental level. On the other hand our modern green technocracy says this is no longer possible and we must embrace a higher truth imbued in the new "altruism" doctrine of the Great Reset. These current elitists seem set on contending that only a rigidly planned society organised by functional castes and selective breeding in vitro can save the planet from the alleged existential menace of human consumption and climate change. They are now openly advocating for a type of controlled future...a global government run by an elite committee of scientists and technocrats who hold the reins of power over every aspect of life and dictate how society is organised. What we could be facing into here is an unconstrained totalitarianism under which the individual will have no agency or conscience...and eventually no soul. However, given that every advance necessarily has both up and down sides, we may still hope for a better way forward driven by a wider awakening of human perception.
During the past 250 years or so we have seen an extraordinary progression from monarchies to democratic nations. And over that time the state has gradually assumed a kind of god-like status which has set the stage for what we now seem to be heading towards - the advent of unified globalist transhumanism. Nevertheless this crescendo of technocracy with its perversion of "progress" has exposed how materialism and the scientific priesthood cannot satisfactorily answer those fundamental questions asked since time immemorial...eternal questions and divine mysteries pursued by seekers and sages. As a result people have been and are left searching for something more grounded e.g. where through the natural world they may also know the supernatural. Once again today we see increasing numbers (even of younger generations) reaching for religion and/or spirituality to find meaning and purpose.
Beyond an awareness of the challenges we face, we really need to have a vision of a world we wish to live in. Influential elites have always been adept at occupying the minds of the people with propaganda so that we can hardly settle for long enough to formulate our own vision of a compelling future. When our vision is mired in a never-ending procession of reactive emotion, leaving us vulnerable to the power of suggestion, a "compelling future" can continually be served up to us by our rulers. They create the "noble lie" problem that elicits our reaction before presenting us with a solution to which there is no perceived alternative.
Ladies and gentlemen we need to remain on our guard against "the great and the good" of Davos busy designing our "compelling future". Throughout time it has always been the case that this task is never over and done with, as le Francais cautioned...plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
