Going Round in Circles - Quareness Series (25th "Lecture").
Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury,
What I'm going to say at this time may seem a little "off the wall" but nonetheless I'll go on as I have both a strong urge to do so (which I don't yet fully understand) and a strong hunch that the subject covered is relevant to this time as we draw near to the end of the current 5,125 year cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar. No doubt we'll all greet 22nd December without, for most of us, any discernible change in our world. However, that aforementioned hunch of mine suspects that after 21/12/12 our human condition may subtly begin to evolve more rapidly than heretofore, with the results becoming increasingly apparent as time goes by (play it Sam).
This particular "thinkin' journey" started for me some time ago when I got me a notion that the whole of this little ol' world of ours and its neighbourhood might be sumthang of a giant jigsaw with all the actin' pieces both interconnected and essential. And this in turn led me to contemplatin' on the sorta symmetry between a spider's web and the world wide web of our increasingly interconnected planet.......could it be that the jigsaw/web design order somehow reflected a more fundamental structure in the human brain and in our wider environment/ surroundings?
Diving right into the fray, may I propose first off that the Universe would seem to be made of a creative energy which is quite impartial and only knows itself because it is all that exists. Einstein's special theory of relativity tells us that the presence of matter informs space of its curves and dat dere curved space informs matter of its movement. All nice an' neat?
In freefall a light beam travels in a straight line but appears to bend/curve to keep up with d'acceleration caused by gravity. Continuing to curve eventually makes a circle curving in on itself and this "winding" gives the first step to understanding energy as being endlessly creative and probably all that really exists. For example any image you see is in reality coming from every direction possible and is transmitted around the whole Universe before coming back to you. We perceive it as coming from one direction only because that's how the human brain "scientifically" translates the information.
A scientific explanation of intuition might be that the atomic nucleus simultaneously releases an electron and positron in opposite directions and we can only say which is which when either has interacted with something and is measured. The other can then be identified and know what its opposite is doing and respond accordingly. It seems we can also intuitively know this as humans, indicating a consciousness at sub atomic levels of matter. And this non locality suggests instant communication across time and space.
A mathematical explanation of the Universe might posit that everything is structured by the transmission of universal energy which creates movement and is endless and constant. And that this energy is transmitted by infinitesimally small points arranged in sets of 3 next to any origin in any direction from it and which are all connected to each other and pull on or influence the movement of each other. And that these points sets are continually spinning or winding on themselves. Transmission of the energy is at the speed of light and everything is moving at that speed even if apparently static e.g. electrons spinning around the atom nucleus are so moving. A suitable picture in equation terms might read...... winding/spin * any orbiting * any change
(another type of winding) = speed of light. Finally the winding itself depends on the way the next points all around are winding.
If you have an interaction going out along any connection, to keep from dissipating or breaking up it can only go to the next 3 winding points (if more it would either unclose or leave 2 points unconnected - think of trying to join each point of a closed geometric shape on paper to each other point without lifting your pencil or overlapping) i.e. if a closed interaction is to be achieved, any dimension is always forced to the next 3 circling/connection points (in any one direction sense). This is important for stability and to prevent break up.
And thus connecting tetrahedrons (3 sided pyramids) gives us infinite creation of incredible stability which is essential for matter to be stable i.e. not forever changing from moment to moment, but with the potential to do so gradually. These winding points then are the basis for the movement and diversity of matter as well as the composition of energy.
?? we can reasonably conclude from the above that energy is creative and that the spinning/ winding points give it structure. Each point controls the others around it equally and is in turn controlled by its neighbours, thus making energy patterns such as radiation (i.e transmission of the energy - light or heat) and matter (i.e. energy in solid, liquid, gas or plasma form which we can see). And this gives energy stability in 0/1/2/3 dimensional form.
Energy orders the winding of the points to create the patterns. Energy comes from outside and shows time and space there, but it's not inside/not of itself. Energy is in the space and changes it by being transmitted by the windings of the points. And this change = lapse of time. Energy is the start of universal logic......the form of the Universe......the primitive thing that starts it all off. It's completely primitive in itself - it can't all dissipate at once. It's spread around because the points that are going set the others going and the ones holding up try to hold up the doing ones. There's infinite energy in space which must start at one point and follow finite patterns i.e. stability. There are 1/2/3 dimensions spinning particles but the nextness of the winding points restricts energy from doing infinite things at once. There's no intervals in these points (they are packed together and space is continuous) so interacting can only go point to point - thus continuous "3ness" appears. The power of 3 forms a finite number and shape and there's no way out. The closed continuity of the Universe never breaks.
In order to maintain the continuity of interaction and matter, the nextness must not break. Otherwise interactions and fundamental structure would start to fall apart and dissipate. The dimensionality of 3 prevents this. This is the quality that allows us to believe in any kind of permanence but also to recognise that permanence is an illusion. Matter can never be created or destroyed, only transformed. The creativity of universal energy is in the infinite ways in which it can manifest itself.
As you can imagine all of this took quite a while to sink into my little grey bits (to tell the truth it's only partially absorbed as yet). In time and in turn then, I also got around to considering what might be the religious explanation of universal energy. Perhaps the power of 3 reflects - Holy Trinity - Mind / Body / Spirit - Buddha / Dharma (teaching) / Sangha (community) - Triads of Sephiroth / Kabbalah Tree of Life in Judaism - Trimarti (3 aspects of God) in Hinduism - Maiden / Mother / Hag (3 stages of womanhood in Paganism)?
More precisely in Holy Trinity terms
- God the Father (originator of all) is the supreme thinker and thought creates reality. We create our own realities through our own thoughts, including space with its strict logic. He thinks into existence (is) the space/universe out of which everything is made/shaped by the energy?
- God the Son represents (is) the mind, universal unconscious and the law of mind (or cause and effect), the transformative power of love and the law of grace which allows us to change and move on?
- God the Holy Ghost is the energy that causes the shapes in the logic of the Universe and the human dimensions of experience, the concrete world we accept as reality and the experiences that are of this reality including the journey to transcend it, all manifestation in the material and experiential world and all human material experience/effects?
Once again I'm drawn to the notion that maybe religion and science are now increasingly "on the same page" and the human race is getting ready for a great evolutionary leap forward in our consciousness and understanding.....to progress (become whole/holy) we must now grow beyond the thoughts/ways of a child.
Perhaps the real message of "2012" is that we have reached the end of our childhood and must now start into an adulthood/maturity where those souls who consciously seek Truth are increasingly less rare?
On the northern coast of Puerto Rico is a place called Arecibo which contains a natural disc shaped hole in the rock. And inside this bowl was constructed the world's largest radio telescope (diameter 1,000 feet). Back in 1974 a number of modifications were carried out to the transmitter, enabling it to broadcast signals at a power of up to 20 terawatts (1 terawatt = 1 trillion watts) and as an inaugural test of these improvements it was decided by SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) to transmit an encoded message to the heavens. This signal was aimed towards the globular star cluster M13, some 25,000 light years away and consisting of some 300,000 stars in what we call the constellation of Hercules.
Now this "message to the stars" was actually broadcast on 16th November 1974 and consisted of 1679 pulses of binary code (0's and 1's) which took a little under 3 minutes to transmit at a frequency of 2380MHz. This 1679 is the unique product of two prime numbers - 23 and 73 - and SETI figured that any sufficiently intelligent lifeform would no doubt look for unique, universal constructs such as prime numbers, chemical element frequencies and binary digits. Because we could be trying to communicate with an intelligence completely different to our own, the astro eggheads decided we shouldn't (couldn't?) "talk" in terms of human systems such as centimetres, feet, decimal numbers, etc. And because only the two prime numbers 23 and 73 when multiplied together produce 1679, there can only be a single way to arrange the signal if you were converting it into a matrix grid i.e. 23 squares by 73 squares.
In order to grasp the message encoded in the transmission, it's necessary to have some understanding of the binary code. In our base 10 decimal system we count from 1 to 9 and then carry 1 into the 10's column and start again in the units column, until we've got 9 in the 10's column and 9 in the units column. Then we have to carry 1 into the 100's column and start again in the 10's and units columns, and so on. In binary each column goes up in powers of 2 - hence the columns are units, 2's, 4's, 8's, 16's etc. And because we can only deal in 1's and 0's we rapidly move up through the columns - as soon as we exceed 1 we must carry into the next column.
The Arecibo message told any recipients to convert the binary pulses into 23 columns of 73 rows
so as to "reveal" the key/matrix intended.
On Tuesday 21st August 2001 two new crop circles/formations were reported near the Chilbolton radio telescope in Hampshire, England. Both were very impressive looking and consisted of a large number of small "pixels" which, when viewed from the air, formed recognisable shapes. One represented a "human face" and the other resembled the radio transmission that SETI had sent from Arecibo in 1974.
Regarding the latter the pattern which occurred in the Chilbolton crop field showed a mirror image of the original SETI message which was comprised of several 'sections', each depicting a particular aspect of "our civilisation". At the top were binary representations of the numbers 1 through to 10 and showing the numbers 8, 9 and 10 as two columns. Anyone decoding the message would know us earthlings could specify that numbers too large to be written on a single line could be "carried over".
The next section contained the binary values 1,6,7,8 and 15 which indicate the atomic numbers of the primary elements for life on Earth i.e. hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and phosphorus respectively.
The next larger section of three rows represented the formulas for the sugars and bases in the nucleotides of our DNA. And beneath this lay a graphical representation of the DNA "double helix" either side of a "straight vertical bar" indicating the number of nucleotides in DNA.
Directly below the DNA double helix was a small representation of a human - with a body and two arms and two legs (like a little stick man). And over to the left was a binary value of the then population of Earth (roughly 4.29 billion).
On the right of the humanoid form was a binary code for the average height of us humans represented in "wavelength units". The actual message was transmitted on 2380MHz. To convert this into a wavelength in metres, we divide into 300 i.e. 300/2380 = 0.12605042m = 12.6cm. This is our "wavelength unit". The code used for the height of a human had the value 1110 in binary (14 in decimal). Multiplying 14 by our wavelength unit (12.6) we get 176.4cm or roughly 5'9" - the average height of humans.
The next section of the message was a simplified representation of our solar system showing our sun and its nine planets, roughly representative of size. And by moving the third planet up slightly it highlighted that something is significant about the third rock from the sun - Earth.
The last section depicted the origin of the message itself i.e. the Arecibo radio telescope, with its curved structure. Underneath this, as the last two lines of the message, was another binary number 100101111110 (split onto two lines in the centre) which equates to 2,430 in decimal. Again using our universal "wavelength units" we get 2,430*12.6cm which is 30,618cm (approx 1,000 feet) - the diameter of the Arecibo radio dish.
There were nine major discrepancies between what appeared in the Chilbolton crop circle and the original message transmitted to the stars in 1974. The numbers 1 to 10 appear exactly the same in the formation. However the atomic numbers indicating the prevalent elements making up life on Earth had an additional value inserted into the binary sequence. This doesn't look like a mistake given that it was precisely added in the correct location, and in the original binary code. This additional element had an atomic number of 14 = Silicon.
Moving down the "pictogram", the next change consisted of an extra strand on the left side of the DNA double helix. And another change was in the binary coding of the number of nucleotides in DNA itself.
There were also quite significant changes both to the shape of the humanoid, which became almost "alien-like" and to the diagram of the Arecibo dish. Either side of "ET", there were changes to the "population" figure as well as the height value. The latter was now 1000 in binary (or 8) and if we multiply this by the original "wavelength unit" we get 8*12.6cm = 100.8cm which is roughly 3'4" !!!
Below this again were additional changes to the solar system chart. The third planet from the sun was no longer the only one "highlighted'". The fourth and fifth were as well. And the fifth appeared emphasised even more, with three additional 'pixels'.
Lastly, the Arecibo transmitter representation in the original message was even more cryptic and the binary code for the size of the transmitter was also altered.
For ease of reference - see below the graphical patterns depicted by the 1's and 0's of the code of (a) the Arecibo original transmission (on top) and (b) the "corresponding" Chilbolton crop formation (to make both "messages" a little clearer, the black squares represent 1's and the white/ empty squares represent 0's).
What does it all mean? I suppose at this time the short answer is....who knows? Currently there's a wide spectrum of theories as to the origin and purpose of the crop circle phenomenon ranging for the most speculative to the most cynical. However, on a more philosophical level it seems quite reasonable to say that the Arecibo/Chilbolton case is centred around communication, and notifying the heavens of our existence. In this instance could the crop circle representation and shape (mimicking the "home" location of the original message) have been an indication that crop circles are indeed a form of communication?
Irrespective of the origin of this formation, it does appear that people all over the world are communicating more because of their interest in and experience of crop circles. Indeed it seems the formation would have required an immense effort in order to portray what was seen in that field and from the air. To create it within the constraints of a few hours of darkness was impressive, irrespective of its origin (terrestrial or extra-terrestrial). And again, irrespective of origin, it appears to teach quite a lot about SETI, human physiology, binary encoding and perhaps most importantly communication.
For my part let me speculate a little about what it might mean for us now as we approach the end of 2012.
What if enough people share the same dream, would a critical mass create that reality? Humans may be gifted dreamers, but even so we may often lack the confidence to believe we are in fact powerful creation machines. Throughout human culture God/Nature appears to self reveal to humanity in subtle and helpful ways but when these hints are ignored, cataclysms arise to wake people up (quicken their vibratory levels). And at those times when humanity approaches a crossroads, "outside" guidance may be made available in unusual ways.
Back in the 17th Century, around the time when Europe was fulfilling predictions of hell and brimstone. unusual signs appeared in the fields of Britain in the form of geometric shapes, circles and rings. Described at that time as "witches circles" these designs in tall crops tended to be seen as helpful messages from a benevolent spirit world. A second wave of sightings, this time throughout Europe and North America, preceded events that would lead to World War 1. In time crop circles became a worldwide phenomenon whose dramatic reappearance at and after the end of the 20th Century again seems to coincide with a time of socio-political upheaval as well as climate change......perhaps “signs in the Earth beneath”?
Some say there is an Universal Law of non-intervention which states that no entity can interfere with the evolution of another species. Thus, if crop circles are messages from a conscious source, the symbols must be suggestive. They would serve as a type of subconscious stimulus, offering potential and ideas to the recipients.
People who come into contact with these enigmatic symbols seem to stumble to articulate the experience. They may say they know what the symbols are but often cannot logically explain what they mean. And this suggests that some type of cellular information may be bypassing the logical brain, and awakening instead the genetic and irrational part of our being.
For instance there was one particular crop circle which appeared to match those parts of the human DNA molecule which are not coded for protein.....in other words it stimulated parts of our DNA that allow information to be imprinted, thereby awakening something in our genetic memory. For this to occur, a bioelectromagnetic signal would need to be transferred from one organism - the crop circle - to the other, the human body.
It is known that "genuine" crop circles (as distinct from the man made hoaxes) contain a measurable EM field and that our DNA relies on light (an electromagnetic signal) for receiving information. In addition electrical equipment can exhibit a tendency to be interfered with inside the perimeter of such crop circles, as do human beings who enter them, and us humans are ourselves electromagnetic.
Many/most crop circles are typically geometric; and the most typical geometries employed are the pentagram and the hexagram. Now geometry can be regarded as the ultimate systems language because it underlies every biological and mineral element in the Universe, including the human body. It seems that the crystalline structure of human DNA is made up of a series of repeating crystals in the shape of pentagrams and hexagrams. And if crop circles are some sort of living biological entities, such biogeometry could/would have a sympathetic effect on the organisms with which they interact.
Many crop circles also appear at the intersections of Earth’s magnetic lines of energy, perhaps imprinting information directly into the planet’s energetic field and impacting every organism on the planet? And maybe they have appeared at this crucial juncture to remind us of a preferred choice of direction? People are being offered the choice to engage with or to resist the coming human evolutionary step - we always have choice.
In any event, one thing seems certain - the presence of these "communication" signs is palpable and given their polarizing effect, people either react very positively to the circles or they debunk them vehemently. In fact the tenacity with which the debunkers have operated often appears akin to a 17th Century witch hunt.
All in all it seems not totally implausible that the genuine crop circles may form signs from a helpful Universe come to aid humanity through another fork in its evolutionary road. Take the famous case of the "solar system” crop circle, socalled because of its uncanny resemblance to our own inner solar system (to an accuracy of 99%) and complete with its own asteroid belt. What makes this glyph specifically worthy of attention is that the circle representing Earth is missing from its orbit. Some have said this points to a future date when the Earth will cease to exist - I would say...who knows?
On the other hand, the late Professor Gerard Hawkins (emeritus astronomer at the University of Boston) favoured an interpetation that pointed to milestones in propulsion. He calculated that the position of the other three planets in this design appeared in such a configuration twice during the 20th Century: the first date occurred when the Wright Brothers made aviation history on a beach in North Carolina by proving that a heavier-than-air object could fly; the second date points to the first Mars orbiter and its flight to the red planet; and the next time we'll see this configuration in the solar system will be in 2032.
This leaves me wondering if we'll then witness another milestone in aviation......again who knows? In any event the "circlemakers" do seem positive that humanity will still be alive and well and maybe in a more creative mood two decades after 2012.
It has been asserted that historically, peaks and troughs in the Earth’s magnetic field strength coincide with the creation of sacred sites, indicating that our ancestors were well aware of these key moments or ages, and used such pivotal moments to experience more rapid development of their consciousness. Of course if there was greater resistance to this from a wider band of society then the inverse would occur, and more dark ages would follow.
That the crop circles themselves appear to have been created according to the very same techniques employed in stone circles, pyramids, Gothic cathedrals and other sacred sites (using magnetism, geometry and sound) may say much about their intended purpose, and more so considering that their sudden reappearance at the close of the 20th Century has coincided with a major trough in the Earth’s magnetic field.
According to chaos theory, an evolutionary transition to a higher state is accompanied by the breakdown of order in the harmonic field. When new energy is introduced (as in the case of crop circles?) it reverses the process of disintegration so that matter can be reorganized and enabled to achieve this higher state. Order breaks into chaos that in turn builds into order. As the science writer James Gleick said.... “the greater the turbulence, the more complex the solution, the greater the jump to a higher state.” And currently we seem to be immersed in quite an ocean of chaos.
